Car Burns Hours After Developing Trouble

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso Fire Department investigators blamed mechanical failure for a fire which reduced a car to a burned-out shell Friday morning.

El Paso County Sheriff's deputies say a driver experienced trouble with his Mercedes-Benz around 11 p.m. Thursday on Loop 375 near Montana Avenue. The driver then pulled over to the side of the road, left the car, and got a ride home.

Investigators then said the car caught fire and burned completely just after 2 a.m. Friday.

Deputies didn't think the fire was suspicious in nature.

No one was hurt as a result of the blaze.
