Borderland hit with heavy winds and heavy dust

By Bernadette Flores

El Paso, TX —

The borderland was blanketed with a thick cloud of dust today, brought on by heavy winds. But they didn't keep people from getting on with their day.

People were still out and about. They seemed a bit more bundled up with scarves trying not to breathe in all the dirt. People like Yvette Fry Perez who was out running errands despite the blowing dirt.

Depending on what part of town you were in today, you saw winds anywhere from 39 mph to 66 mph.
And those winds brought a heavy cloud of dust that blanketed the city. Tall buildings seems to disappear under that dirt cloud.

"What can we do about it, you live in the Sun City of the southwest or with windy city," said Perez.

The strongest winds so far were reported in Dona Ana county, at the San Augustin pass, which saw speeds of up to 79 mph.
