Border Patrol Arrests Illegal Immigrant With Criminal Background

SANTA TERESA, N.M. —

Border patrol agents in Santa Teresa arrested a 33-year old man who has been convicted of aggravated assault as he tried to enter the U.S. illegally through New Mexico on Tuesday.

Just after midnight, the man allegedly entered the zero tolerance zone known as "Operation Lockdown."

Agents ran a fingerprint check and found an extensive criminal history, including a conviction on five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Santa Fe.
