Bible Leads To Answers In Death

EL PASO, Texas —

A suspicious overdose had police looking at the Bible for answers.

Dona Ana County deputies were called to a home on the 3600 block of Picacho Saturday morning.

The couple living there told the deputies they hadn't seen the man who died, 38-year-old Johnny Huerta, for months and that he had arrived there "earlier."

Deputies found a Bible in Huerta's car with the couple's name inscribed.

When they asked the couple about it, police said the two changed their story.

Deputies said the three had gone out and returned to their home Saturday morning.

Deputies said the couple admitted they were breaking probation by being together and consuming alcohol, after the husband's arrest this week.

Criminal charges may be filed against the couple.

An autopsy will determine an exact cause of death.
