Animal Advocate Says It's Too Cold Outside For Animals

Related

EL PASO, Texas —

Nightly temperatures have been dipping to the freezing mark across the borderland. And animal advocates remind you to provide a warm place for pets.

Local animal advocate Rebecca Rojas, contacted KFOX about the condition of her neighbor's dog. She showed KFOX his yard and said the dog was tied up and left outside.

This week, temperatures at night have been very close to the freezing mark. Although, the dog's restraint was the proper length, Animal Services issued citations for no microchip and no vaccines.

Rojas said the law does not require an owner to bring an animal indoors during inclement weather, but said animal owners need to have more compassion.

"They recommended that he take the animal inside but he made the statement that animals belong outside. It's definitely a situation where we need to go before city council and our state legislatures to change the laws," said Rojas.

Rojas said the dog has been moved and Animal Services is pursuing the case.
