Alternate Means?

Gas prices are at an all time high, forcing many El Pasoans to use alternate modes of transportation.

The average price has already hit $3.00 in several parts of the country.

Many El Pasoans have been trying to save fuel by carpooling, and even avoiding unnecessary traveling.

According to one expert, many are beginning to adjust gas prices into their budget.

Robert Puentes with The Brookings Institution says, "Nowadays, with gas getting expensive and other forms of transportation - they are beginning to look at transportation costs as a percentage of household budgets.

Puentes adds that while some can afford to stop driving their cars, other commuters cannot.

They would include those who live in suburbs or areas with minimal public transportation.
