Aggie Fans Bring Business To Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES, N.M. —

Hundreds of recreational vehicles and tents were set up outside the Aggie Memorial Stadium parking lot on Thursday in anticipation of New Mexico State University's first game.

Aggie fans were decked out in maroon and white colors as many sat under tents eating hamburgers and hot dogs before the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana.

Bennigan's restaurant was also prepared even before the game started.

Managers increased staffing by at least 25 percent, making sure the restaurant had enough employees for the big crowds expected.

"I would say football and basketball are definitely the biggest moneymakers that we have," said Trevor Ferguson, of Bennigan's.

Several hours before the game, managers at Bennigan's expected to have every seat in the restaurant full.

"That's what it's all about is just having support both locally and people coming in and stuff like that," said Aggie fan Judy Conner.
