EL PASO, Texas —

Multiple power lines along Interstate 10 west are being worked on after a storm knocked them down Friday.

El Paso Electric spokesperson Teresa Souza said that about 10,000 customers in the Sparks area lost power. "We also had outages throughout our service territory," said Souza. The power may have been restored within a short amount of time but the repair work was extensive.

More than a dozen utility crews were expected to be working late into the evening replacing the seven poles that were damaged. Residents in the area told KFOX14 the winds caused some small damage to their property.

"We could feel it. I live in a trailer. The whole trailer started sort of moving. You know, 'cause it was strong enough," said Angel Delgado of Sparks. Delgado said some people along his street reported having their roofs were damaged by the high winds.

An EPE official said power was restored at about 11:30 a.m.

Texas State Troopers advised TxDOT officials that the Gateway West between the Horizon entrance ramp and Eastlake will remain closed for most of Friday.

If you can, please avoid the roadway in this area.
