EL PASO, Texas —

An 18-wheeler caught fire in far east El Paso around noon Friday

The 18-wheeler was close to Love's Truck Stop on the 11700 block of Gateway West near the Horizon Boulevard exit when its tire blew out, said a spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

The man was driving into the truck stop when the truck became engulfed in flames, sheriff's officials said.

Socorro and Horizon fire departments responded to the fire and were able to put it out, sheriff's deputies said.

They told KFOX14 the driver did not suffer any injuries.

A total of $50,000 worth of poultry was inside the truck's cargo.
