October 27, 2006 —

Dana Jarvis, 54, is facing charges after a urine test leads to a case of alleged child abuse.

Las Cruces police say a five-year-old boy tested positive for a large dose of the painkiller Vicodin but that's not all.

A urine test done at Memorial Medical Center also found opiates and marijuana in his system.

According to the Las Cruces Sun-News the guardian confessed to being addicted to Vicodin herself and that the boy may have accidentally taken the pills.

As for the pot, the woman claims her roommate is a chronic smoker and that's how it may have ended up in the boy's system.
