EPISD lockdown lifted at 2 schools

El Paso Independent School District

EL PASO, Texas —

The lockdown at two eastside schools was lifted.

Burges High School and MacArthur Elementary-Intermediate School were placed on lockdown after an employee at MacArthur saw 'suspicious person' walking near the portables, said EPISD officials.

MacArthur and Burges High School, which is nearby, was locked down as a precautionary measure, they said.

In response to the lockdown at EPISD's schools, Ysleta Independent School District's Scotsdale Elementary was also placed under lockdown.

Students at each of the three schools were released as scheduled.
