It may be helping pecan farmers rack in the cash, but many El Pasoans are not so keen on the unusually dry weather.
Monday will mark the 100th day straight of absolutely no precipitation in the El Paso area.
Although it does not meet the record for consecutive days without rain, it does have some El Pasoans concerned about the water supply.
"Hopefully there is enough reserves at Elephant Butte, and hopefully the state will get it and it will ease up on some of the fires that we are having," said David Baker, of West El Paso.
"I don't think people are frustrated maybe because we are in the winter season there's not much watering going on right now, so I don't think that's a concern of the people right now. However as it becomes warmer, I believe people will become concerned," said Jorge Ortiz, of West El Paso.
"I think there is you know its pretty dry but with this hot weather during the winter I wish it would rain a little bit more," said Miguel Alvarez, of West El Paso.
El Paso is inching towards the record of no rain.
In 1910 the area went 136 days without seeing any measurable precipitation.
