EL PASO, Texas - Thousands of people who've had too much to drink are choosing to let Borderland volunteers drive them home. No DUI El Paso started in a garage. But the idea is catching on and thanks to a donation the nonprofit has a new permanent office at 3410 Hondo Pass.

Tyler Rouse says more volunteers are always needed, but the group is really looking for sponsors.

"With sponsors being on board, there are a lot of incentives for being a sponsor. And the contribution goes 100 percent back into operations. No sponsorship goes into staff compensation," said Rouse.

Volunteers can now enjoy a meal, work on a computer and play board or video games while waiting for a call. The people on the other line have had too much to drink and are looking for someone to drive them home safely.

Between October 2012 and October 2013, nearly 2,500 people took advantage of the free service.

"We are expected to double what we did last year. Operations have expanded. Awareness has expanded. More people than ever are utilizing us. And that is fantastic because that directly equates into less drunk drivers on the roadways," said Rouse.

No DUI El Paso is looking to expand the program throughout the city. Other cities and posts have also expressed interest in the program.
