Motorists say problems continue with far east gas station

EL PASO, Texas -- More people came to KFOX14 saying their cars fell victim to the faulty fuel at the Alon in far east El Paso.

As KFOX14 previously reported, 21 cars stalled Friday night because of contaminated fuel at the station on Zaragoza Road and Sun Fire Boulevard.

Norely Hidalgo filled up here on Saturday, and it took $75 to fill up her tank. But as soon as she filled up, she said her car started shaking.

She made it about a mile down the road before she pulled over and the engine light came on.

"If they already knew that there was something bad with the gas, they admitted it on Friday, they're still having issues on Saturday, that means they didn't do anything. Or they didn't cover everything that they had to do on Saturday," said Hidalgo.

Hidalgo said the Toyota dealership came and towed her car, ran diagnostics and told her bad gas was to blame for her engine troubles.

Alon believes water made its way into one of their loads before getting here, but Alon said the problem was fixed early Saturday morning.

The company said they purged the tanks, gas lines, pumps and nozzles -- essentially starting out with a bone-dry system.

"With all due respect to anybody who may honestly think that they honestly got bad fuel, I would have to respectfully say that it didn't happen at that facility," said Blake Lewis, from the public relations firm that represents Alon.

Fresh fuel was pumped back in and the station reopened around 11 a.m.

Hidalgo said her insurance company is covering the replacement of her fuel injectors but feels Alon should be held responsible.
