EL PASO, Texas -- Friday's rainy weather is to blame for a heavy piece of construction equipment falling into a road construction project in east El Paso.

A backhoe loader was swallowed into the ground near the intersection of Windrock Drive and Buckwood Avenue off McRae Boulevard.

The incident happened around 630 p.m. at the site of the Montwood drainage project.

The project's supervisor said the heavy rains caused the dirt to collapse and take the piece of equipment with it.

The accident caused a mess for the neighborhood. Residents said they are without running water as crews work to repair the area.
