EL PASO, Texas - The video of a bodybuilder who was shot to death by a police officer was released to our news partner, The El Paso Times.

The Texas Attorney General ordered the city to release the video of Daniel Saenz who struggled while escorted out of the El Paso County Jail before he was shot in the left shoulder and later died.

El Paso police arrested Saenz on March 8, 2013 on assault charges after he attacked an off-duty officer and staff at Del Sol Medical Center.

The video begins with a shirtless Saenz with his hands cuffed behind his back. He is being dragged by a prison transport guard and El Paso Police Officer, Jose Flores.

Saenz was being taken to a hospital for treatment after repeatedly banging his head against a doorway inside the jail. Once outside, the struggle continues.

According to CLEAT, the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, after a long struggle with Saenz, Flores initially reached for his Taser.

However, Saenz had already been shocked with a Taser five times earlier that day with little to no effect, according to CLEAT.

Back to the video, it was then that Flores opted for his handgun.

CLEAT said the unidentified prison guard with Flores accidentally hit that gun which caused it to fire and strike Saenz in his left shoulder.

Flores then went to Saenz, restrained him and later performed CPR.
An autopsy revealed the bullet went through his left shoulder and traveled to his chest.

He later died at the hospital.

The autopsy also reported finding Saenz had a chemical in his body which is also found in bath salts.

According to the report CLEAT gave, Saenz was observed in his cell earlier moving his cuffed hands under his feet and to the front of his body in order to put on his shoes.

The CLEAT's report did not state whether Officer Flores had been made aware Saenz had done that.

In February, the case was presented to the grand jury which decided against charging Flores with a crime.

It is not yet known at this time if the Saenz family plans to sue the city for releasing the video.
