EL PASO, Texas - A teen driver is being charged after the stolen truck he was driving lost control and slammed into several cars at Modesto Gomez Park.

The investigation started at around 7:57 p.m. Thursday, police said.

"I was there for a kickball game with some friends just the way we do every night," said Jaqueline Zamora.

Then, toward the end of the game, the group heard a crash.

"All of us we all stopped the game, took of running to go see exactly what was going on especially because a friend and I were both parked in the same area," Zamora said.

They found a downed light pole on top of one car and several other cars in the lot -- all seriously damaged.

"I just couldn't believe what was going on. To put everything together, to piece everything together, like what had just happened, it was still just too unreal to us at that time," Zamora said.

Zamora said a group of teens was behind the whole thing.

"The four boys that were in the car decided to run so our reaction was 'where are they? What happened to them?' So we did have two friends who ran after them and stopped the boys," Zamora said.

El Paso police confirm the teens took a joyride in the Chevy Avalanche, a pickup truck that didn't belong to them.

It actually belongs to Vanessa Pacheco, which she reported stolen the day before.

"Obviously our truck is completely totaled. There's no way that's fixable," Zamora said.

Police say the fourteen-year-old behind the wheel slammed into a light pole then continued out of control and hit six other cars before coming to a stop.

Pacheco said she confronted one of the teens when she got to the scene.

"I just went up to him and I'm like 'were you the one driving?' and he was like 'I'm not allowed to say anything.' I just told him 'I'm going to make sure you're held responsible for everything that you did,'" Pacheco said.

At this point, there are more questions than answers.

"Where were their parents? Why weren't they being supervised?" Zamora said.

But Zamora said if the game had already ended, the outcome would have been much different.

"If it would have happened those 10 maybe 15 minutes later, it would have been people hurt, not just the cars. And those boys did get lucky that it's just vehicles that people are having to take care of now instead of, visiting someone else in the hospital," Zamora said.

It's not known whether the teen is responsible for stealing the truck, however, the teen is facing a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, police said.
