Police: Driver of car responsible of crash faces intoxicated manslaughter

By: Jamel Valencia

EL PASO, Texas -- A 25-year-old woman who was in a car when it was rear-ended last week has died.

Janet Balderrama died as a result of her injuries from a car crash that happened Thursday on the 5900 block of Doniphan Drive.

Balderrama was the passenger of a car that Iris Bustamante was driving, said police.

Desiree Skaf, according to police, was the driver of the car that rear-ended Bustamante's car.

When emergency crews got to the scene Balderrama was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said Tuesday that Balderrama died Monday.

Skaf, who has been in the El Paso County jail since the crash, is facing intoxicated manslaughter.
