EL PASO, Texas -- A 45-year-old man who was reportedly kidnapped was found with family in Mexico, police said.

Police said Luis Rodriguez was last heard from around 11:30 a.m. Thursday when a text message was sent to a friend. The message stated Rodriguez was being held and his captors demanded money.

Rodriguez was last seen about an hour before the text message at a job site in east El Paso, police said.

His Ford F-150 was later found by investigators abandoned on the 400 block of South Park Street in south central El Paso.

On Monday, he was reported as found, but detectives from the police department's Crimes Against Persons unit are waiting for Rodriguez's return to the country to clear the case.

Police said he is considered a missing person until he is in the United States.

The case is still active, and detectives are still learning about Rodriguez's disappearance and alleged kidnapping, police said.
