Recent rain to lift burn ban at Lincoln National Forest

EL PASO, Texas -- Because of the recent rain, the Lincoln National Forest lifted fire restrictions that have been in place for months in southern New Mexico.

Forest rangers said the rains reduced the fire danger, so starting Friday morning, all outdoor burning including smoking and campfires can resume.

Rangers caution forest-goers that the change in weather could mean lead to an increased risk of flash flooding or overflowing streams.
