A mobile home fire in Las Cruces sent one woman to the Lubbock burn center and killed the family dog early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews responded to the home on the 2200 block of Holiday Avenue around 5 a.m. They could see heavy flames and smoke coming from the home, officials said.

Before crews arrived, a woman was able to evacuate her two children safely before needing help from a neighbor to evacuate herself, officials said. The home's occupants were taken to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, and the woman was later flown to the burn hospital in Lubbock, officials said.

The home had heavy smoke and fire damage, and the neighboring home had some broken windows as well as light fire, smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the condition of the woman and her children is not known.
