Man wearing pajamas seen breaking into vehicles in northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas -- A northeast El Paso man was seen breaking into a car Monday afternoon, and he was arrested after an anonymous caller alerted police.

Dontario Lucas, 19, was seen rummaging through a vehicle on the 7100 block of Mesquite Tree Lane. Lucas was wearing pajama bottoms, a long-sleeve black shirt and one glove when the caller reported the incident to police.

When police arrived at the scene, a witness said the man was inside her neighbor's vehicle, and the witness was able to startle Lucas by activating her vehicle's alarm.

Witnesses told police that Lucas was last seen walking away from a 2008 Chevrolet truck, and police located him near the intersection of Mesquite Bush and Mesquite Hill drives, police said.Lucas was positively identified by a witness and was apprehended. 

Police's investigation revealed that Lucas had broken into two other vehicles in the area, police said.Lucas was charged with three counts of burglary of a vehicle, and he was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with bail totaling $10,000.

No property was taken during the burglaries, police said.
