EL PASO, Texas – Garden-Fresh Foods issued a voluntary recall of several ready-to-eat salads, slaw and dip products that may contain Listeria monocytogenes, health officials said.

El Paso health officials said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that the food company's products sold in several states, including Texas, may be contaminated.

The contaminant may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Some short-term symptoms found to occur in healthy individuals may include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, health officials said.

Officials said Listeria infection may cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

Affected items include brands such as Market Pantry, Archer Farms, D'Amico and Sons, Finest Traditions and others. Click here to see a list of affected products.

Customers who purchased any of the suspected products are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Anyone with questions may contact the company at 1-800-645-3367 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
