SOCORRO, Texas -- The family of a woman killed in a rollover in Socorro speaks to KFOX 14.
Police said 27-year-old Arlene Aguirre was driving east on Socorro Road around 8 p.m. Tuesday when she tried to turn onto Glorietta Road but was going too fast.
Police said her car flipped and rolled several times and Aguirre died at the scene.
The day of her death was especially tragic as her fiancé told KFOX14 the two were supposed to sign the papers to officially be married.
"I got here and it was horrible. The scene was horrible. I've never seen something like this, especially from a cousin of mine," said Dan Chavez, Aguirre's cousin.
For the first time, Chavez visited the spot where his cousin died.
"It's something I can't explain. She was very loving. She loved her three kids and it's a tragedy that this happened. We're going to miss her every day," Chavez said.
Her fiancé told KFOX14 Aguirre is originally from Lubbock, and they lived in Socorro for three years.
Chavez lives down the road in San Elizario, and he had just seen his cousin hours before she died.
"(Tuesday) was my birthday when she died. It's kind of hard for us. We'll miss her," Chavez said.
The last memory Chavez has of his cousin is her wishing him a happy birthday, which was a day that was supposed to be a celebration for her as well.
Aguirre's fiancé said the two were supposed to be married on the day she died.
"We're just hanging out together, trying to be strong about this. We're going to see what happens from here," Chavez said.
