EL PASO, Texas - The shooting at Los Angeles International airport is affecting flights in El Paso.
Two flights, one coming in from and one headed out to LAX were canceled Friday afternoon.
The later flights to and from LA were delayed and several other flights in and out of other cities have also been delayed.
"When I was checking in, they even said they might have to change some routes around, so it's pretty crazy," said Tim Kerr, an airline passenger.
KFOX14 spoke to passengers at the airport and though many are shaken, they said this hasn't changed their mind about flying.
TSA later sent us this statement:
"Earlier this morning, a shooting occurred at Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport. Multiple Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) were shot, one fatally. Additional details will be addressed by the FBI and local law enforcement who are investigating the shooting."
Marcia Heitzmann was supposed to meet her son in El Paso.
He was flying in from LAX to EPIA.
Few at El Paso International Friday were more uneasy than Heitzmann.
"At about 10:30 he texted me and said 'there's been a shooting.' and they were being evacuated from the terminal. He said people were running, and they were told to evacuate to the tarmac. Out on the blacktop," said Heitzmann.
"People were kind of moving and I just saw them headed toward the exit. And I kind of just followed them out not really knowing what was going on," Matt Heitzmann said.
Passengers at LAX weren't the only ones affected. Several other flights at El Paso International were delayed.
"I think that's horrible. It makes you scared to fly. I mean, that's crazy,"
Though the day was hectic, Matt says he always kept calm.
"I don't think I felt uneasy really, just because we heard it was in a different terminal. Obviously LAX is pretty huge and we were kind of hearing that they had it locked down," Matt said.
But he is glad to finally be headed to El Paso to meet up with his family.
"Now I'm cool cause I know I can get on the plane and I should be able to get to El Paso hopefully with no more problems," Matt said.
Airport officials at El Paso International aren't saying much, just that they do have a security plan in place.
