West El Paso sees flooding on residential roads, residents concerned about drain maintenance

Updated: Monday, September 30 2013, 10:47 AM MDT

EL PASO, Texas –

At the top of Castellano in West El Paso, an arroyo overflowed onto Castellano Drive all the way down to Mesa.

KFOX 14 estimates the water was about a foot deep in the middle.

A man who lives right next to the arroyo says that it is in some parts more than 15 feet deep.

He says it's because it's not properly maintained.

"It's a nice structure, but it is not maintained properly, so this is going to happen," Rene Valenzuela said.

Drivers were seen trying to pass through the raging water along Castellano Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service advises people to turn around, don't drown by attempting to drive in such deep water.
