Sinkhole growing larger in Socorro

Updated: Monday, September 30 2013, 10:39 AM MDT
SOCORRO, Texas – KFOX14 Bill Melugin is in Socorro, Texas where he found a family digging up their own barricade to keep the rainwater from entering their home.

The rain seems to be coming from a runoff that begins at Interstate 10.
The massive flooding has caused a sinkhole to open up on Reed Road. Reed Road is near the Horizon exit in far east El Paso County.

El Paso County is under a Flash Flood Warning, according to the National Weather Service.

With the continuous rainfall, the sinkhole is growing larger.

Socorro street crews have not made it out to that area, but city officials said they’re setting up shelters at Socorro High School and Rio Vista Community Center. Sinkhole growing larger in Socorro
