SOCORRO, Texas - An arroyo broke in Socorro Thursday morning after heavy rainfall.

Many residents near the arroyo are stuck in their homes because there's no way around the flooding that the broken arroyo has caused.

Residents like Thelma Rey took pictures of the damage and say she and her neighbors are trapped in their neighborhood.

Rey also reported Socorro street department crews have shut down the roadways near Coker Road.

City of Socorro officials say they're setting up shelters at Socorro High School and at the Rio Vista Community Center.

Officials also say they are working on sending help to residents.  Socorro residents trapped in homes after arroyo breaks
