Workshops, Job Fairs, And Community Drive

Stimulus Workshop Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande will be hosting a workshop focusing on community development opportunities that are available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The workshop will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 300 E. Main from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It’s open to non-profit organizations and workforce community partners. The event will consist of material from federal agencies involved in ARRA, as well as input from area businesses. Seating is limited. Info: 77-2002.

Job Fair Set Get your resume ready, be sure to dress for success, and start polishing up your interview skills, the next job fair is set for Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 1359 Lomaland from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Some of the local businesses that will be attending include Beltran Electrical, Dish Network, Project Bravo, Whataburger and West Texas Express. Employers interested in signing up can call the Business Services Unit at 887-2600. The job fair is free for employers and job seekers.

Community Fan Drive Workforce Solutions is working to help people like Antonia Martinez that need a fan this summer. They are leading a fan drive and encourage the public to help those less fortunate get some relief. Anyone can donate a fan by bringing it to a Workforce Solutions Employment Center location at 1359 Lomaland, 300 E. Main, or 9740 Dyer. The deadline for donations is July 22, 2009.
