September 7, 2006 -- National animal rights group In Defense of Animals has sent a letter to the USDA following an allegation of abuse against elephants at the El Paso Zoo, which KFOX was first to report last week.
The city fired the zoo's collections supervisor, Allan Seidon, last week after a zoo volunteer allegedly witnessed him striking Juno the elephant with a stick, breaking it on her.
IDA said the USDA should investigate the El Paso Zoo, because this is the second elephant abuse allegation at the zoo in the last seven years.
