ICE Arrests Fourth Smuggling Suspect

Posted: 8:33 p.m. MST January 10, 2006

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are looking for one less fugitive accused of helping run a massive human smuggling ring.

Fermin Dominguez, 37, also known as "El Mecate," turned himself to Socorro Police at about 11:30 Monday night and then was handed over to ICE.

Agents say Dominguez allegedly turned himself in after being convinced by a relative who saw the extensive media publicity about Dominguez and his alleged connection to the smuggling ring.

As KFOX first reported Monday night, the ring is considered one of the biggest operations to be busted by ICE in two years.

Two more people in connection to the ring are still at large.
