Prom Dress Giveaway

Two local teenagers are helping to change that.

For the past several weeks nearly 500 prom dresses, some new, some used have been collected.

A project called Belle of the Ball has been established by two 18-year-old Franklin High School seniors.

The plan is to give the dresses away for free to any teenage girl who might not be able to afford to buy a dress for her prom.

Kellie Reed, coordinator, says, "Well we've heard of similar things like this in other cities and thought it would be great to expand on it and tweak it a little bit and bring it to El Paso."

Shannon Pepe, coordinator, says, "It always feels great to dedicate your time to something like this especially if it's an organization that's gonna help people like us girls in high school and we can relate to that."

Several local dry-cleaning businesses around town have helped make it possible.

Ladies in need of a dress can go to the Paso del Norte Academy, tomorrow, Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. while supplies last.
