Portable Meth Lab Found After Vehicle Pursuit, Police Say

CHAPARRAL, N.M. -- Texas state troopers said they tried to stop a Chevrolet on McCombs Street and FM Road 2529 on a regular traffic stop around 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. However, the driver refused to stop.After about a 10-minute pursuit, the driver crossed into Chaparral, N.M. and stopped his vehicle near the intersection of Amparo and Stateline roads and fled on foot, officials said.He was arrested a short time later and officials said chemicals were found inside the car. A hazmat team was summoned to the scene, officials said.Officials said the car was a portable meth lab.The name of the driver was not released.
