Man, 82, Dies When Truck Rolls Into Canal

SOCORRO, Texas -- Socorro police are investigating a crash that left Lewis Elmo Gosey, 82, dead.Police said Gosey was driving down North Loop when he somehow lost control and hit a sign. He then rolled his white Chevrolet into a canal west of Liahona Drive just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.Police said witnesses tried to get Gosey out of the truck but the vehicle was mangled.Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to pry Gosey out. He was taken to Del Sol Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.Police do not believe speed or alcohol are factors in the crash but are waiting for toxicology and autopsy results.
