Off-Duty Border Patrol Agent Dies After Crash Splits Car In Half

A Border Patrol agent is dead after his car split in two pieces during a crash early Thursday morning.

Police told KFOX 25-year-old Osvaldo Munoz was driving a two -door white Honda CRX eastbound on Edgemere Boulevard near Tierra Paso Way when he lost control of his car and slammed it into an electric pole.

The impact of the crash was strong enough to split his car in two pieces. Investigators said one of his legs was also amputated.

Investigators were still trying to piece together the crash, but said they do believe speed was a factor. It’s unknown if alcohol may have also played a role.

Munoz was the only occupant of the car. He was not on duty when the crash happened.
