LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Traffic on Interstate 10's eastbound lanes were backed up for hours on Wednesday around 12:30 p.m.Three semi trucks were involved and one of them caught on fire. Police said the driver of the burned truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.Investigators believe he is also the driver responsible for the chain reaction crash because they said he was speeding in a construction zone.Lt. Ray Moralez of the New Mexico Department of Transportation said drivers need to slow down when they see construction. “Upon entering a construction zone, please slow down and give yourself enough space from the vehicle in front of you. I think if that would've happened then this crash would've been avoided,” said Moralez.Moralez said citations have yet to be given and all drivers will have to take a drug and alcohol test.
