San Elizario Man Dies In Mississippi Shootout

A man from San Elizario, Texas, was shot and killed after he and a man from Houston, Texas, robbed a Mississippi store, police said.

Vicksburg police have been looking for a Texan on charges related to a recent store robbery and shootout. Police Lt. Bobby Stewart told the Vicksburg Post that a warrant was issued for 26-year-old Jaime Flores of Houston on three counts of armed robbery and one of aggravated assault.

Stewart said Flores and another man allegedly robbed the store in Vicksburg on March 4. before being chased down and one of them killed by the store owner. The body of 25-year-old Jose Arenas of San Elizario, Texas, was found the next day below an Interstate 20 overpass, police said.

Stewart said Flores fled the scene of the robbery.

Police have not charged the store owner in the incident.
