LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- The city of Las Cruces has been awarded a $2 million federal loan guarantee to relocate the Museum of Nature and Science. Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., announced the loan guarantee on Monday. He said it will be used to convert a former bank building just north of the old downtown mall into the new location for the museum. The project involves acquisition, environmental remediation, site improvements and rehabilitation of the former bank. The loan was provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
