Destructive Car Crash Sends 2 People To Hospital

Socorro police officials said the driver and passenger in a Mitsubishi Eclipse both were rushed into surgery after a car crash early Saturday morning.

Socorro police officers said shortly before 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Charles Anthony Martin from El Paso, Texas, was driving southbound on Horizon Boulevard when he lost control of his car.

Police said Martin went over a curb and into a parking lot, before hitting a second curb in the parking lot, sending the Eclipse flying 25 feet into the air. Investigators said the car flew over a pond and hit a bush, flipping onto its side before hitting and ripping light pole out of the ground and flipping one more time.

Both Martin, and his passenger, Vanessa Nevarez, were rushed to University Medical Center. Police said both are in their 20s.
