Story

Monica Balderrama

Reporter

I was born and raised in El Paso. I'm a Bel Air graduate and received my bachelor's degree at New Mexico State University. I majored in Government and minored in Creative Writing.

When I was 12 years old I knew I wanted to be a writer. I started developing those skills in high school when I started writing for the school newspaper. Later in college, I had the opportunity to learn how to shoot and edit video. I then realized I wanted to work in T.V. I got my start at News 22 in Las Cruces, a news show operated by college students at NMSU.

After graduating, I left to Palm Springs, CA. I was first hired as an anchor for the Telemundo affiliate. Then I moved on to report for the English stations.

Even though I enjoyed the California beaches and mountains, I was always homesick. I was there for 3 years before coming back to El Paso to be closer to my family.

I joined TeamFOX in November 2001. I'm glad to be working with such a talented and smart group of people, whom I learn from everyday.
