Local, Out-Of-Town Companies Booked With Hail Repairs

It has been more than two months since a fast moving storm caused millions of dollars in hail damage, and just as fast as the storm moved out, out-of-town companies have moved in to fix your car.

It seems like on every street corner in East El Paso, parking lots are filled with tents and 18-wheelers ready to fix your hail damage, including Dents & Dings, based out of San Antonio.

"We're here for the catastrophe, handle some of the stuff the body shops can't do, the overload, try and help everybody out," said Michael Colvin with Dents & Dings.

Dents & Dings has been cranking out eight to nine cars a day ever since a strong storm swept through East El Paso on Sept. 16, damaging thousands of cars.

Colvin said he's doing a service for local companies.

"We have three body shops in the area as well, and they are just absolutely slammed, so we're doing as much over here as we can, try and help them out, they're still booked out for the next month or so as well," Colvin told KFOX.

"These guys are coming in, and they're taking the money out of El Paso," said Victor Lopez with Texas Custom Body and Paint.

Lopez said they can handle all of the hail damage claims.

"I'm sure we would, we just would have had to schedule them a little better," Lopez told KFOX.

And he adds, there is a bonus to going with a local company.

"You see something that wasn't seen when they deliver it, you can't go back to them. Here, you can come back six months later and if there is something we missed, you know, we can repair it," he said.

Dents and Dings said they will be in El Paso for at least another month if you need to get some dent work done.

Lopez with Texas Custom Body and Paint said they've been in the same location for 17 years, and he plans on being there for at least 20 more.
