Man Arrested On DWI Charge After Serious Accident

El Paso Sheriff's deputies said they arrested 19-year-old Deni Aaron Salas-Torres after they said he caused a serious accident with a truck towing a trailer.

According to sheriff's officials, around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Salas-Torres was driving a 1995 Geo Prism with two others westbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 4. The officials said Salas-Torres, traveling at a high speed, struck the back of a trailer being hauled by two people in a 2001 Dodge Durango. The Durango veered to the right and hit a concrete barrier.

Deputies said the trailer detached from the Durango, causing the truck to roll over approximately four times before stopping in the median between I-10 West and North Desert Boulevard. One passenger in the Prism, and both people inside the Durango, were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

Salas-Torres was arrested for driving while intoxicated, police said.
