Scuffle At Party Leads To Slaying In Northeast

A man police arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing, has posted a $100,000 bond to get out of jail.

Police said Luis Ramos, 21, was arrested for allegedly stabbing Angel Garcia, 18, in the neck on Friday.

Police said a fight broke out while at a party on the 5000 block of Sagittarius Avenue in Northeast El Paso. Ramos is accused of punching someone, then stabbing Garcia.

Garcia's family stood outside their home in Northeast El Paso Saturday gathering with friends as their grieved.

"He was loved by all his peers and his friends, he went to Andress, he was a football player at Andress. He was just loved by a lot of people," said Sergio Urbieta, Garcia's step-father. "It was a life lost over nothing, I mean over nothing. He was 18 years old, he had the whole world ahead of him."

This is the 11th murder of 2009.

Police also said Manuel Rodriguez, 21, was charged with aggravated assault after he hit Samuel Reynosa, 20, with a bottle over his head. Rodriguez was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
