CBP: Officers Find 40 Pounds Of Drugs In Woman's Car

A Juarez woman crossing into the U.S. at the Bridge of the Americas was arrested Wednesday after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered 40 bundles of marijuana in her car, said CBP officials.

CBP officers arrested the driver of the car, 68-year-old Isela Rivera Puga, of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico after a drug-sniffing dog alerted officials to the ceiling of her car.

A total of 45.2 pounds of drugs was recovered from a secret compartment filled with tape- wrapped bundles of marijuana.

Puga was turned over to the El Paso County Sheriff’s office for local prosecution and was being held at the El Paso County Jail.
