EL PASO, Texas -- Nearly 50 buffalo soldiers are buried at Concordia Cemetery, and now they have an official memorial dedicated to them. The new Buffalo Soldier Memorial was unveiled at the cemetery Wednesday morning. It has engraved granite markers with the names of each soldier buried.KFOX spoke with one El Pasoan who said she's glad the buffalo soldiers now have an official place to be recognized."It means a lot to me, I’m so overwhelmed and so glad to see this headstone be replaced out here for the buffalo soldiers because we had crosses, we had sticks, we had all type of things trying to keep it up but it wasn’t the real McCoy and now we got it, thank God,” said Estine Davis. The memorial also has a plaque recognizing all the buffalo soldiers buried at Fort Bliss and in Juarez.
