EL PASO, Texas -- The Army is constantly looking for new ways to help soldiers return home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and one new way is through a nonprofit groups program that returns soldiers to the battlefield where they were severely injured to try and bring them some closure."I got injured March 21st of 2007, I got hit with a rocket propelled grenade," said Adrian Garcia, an El Pasoan and Iraq war veteran.Garcia lost both his legs above the knee that day in Ramadi, Iraq, and you would think Ramadi would be the last place he would ever want to go back to. In fact, it's quite the opposite."To go back there for me it would definitely satisfy something inside of me," Garcia told KFOX.Garcia said on the streets of Ramadi on March 21, 2007, he was born again in his second life -- a life in a wheelchair."It's just a completely different life now and I guess to go back there it's like to the place of your birth and see how it started, maybe just get a feel for it again," he said.As Garcia rebuilds his life in El Paso, he can't help but think about the life left behind in Ramadi, and going back there with the nonprofit group Troops First."I don't know if there is ever going to be closure, but I know it would bring some kind of relief, like something inside of me wanting to go back to where it all began," said Garcia.Garcia said that the Army and nonprofit organizations like Troops First have really helped him throughout the entire process.
