EL PASO, Texas -- Boom. Boom. Boom. That’s the sound that neighbors in Canutillo say keeps them up at night.

“Our windows are shut and you can here that bass, boom, boom, boom," said Danny Morales of Canutillo. ‘And sometimes until 2:00 in the morning, you can't sleep."

Neighbors in Canutillo said the party is going on in full swing, but instead of the club, it's rocking their house.

When they get snuggled up for a good night’s sleep, they said they hear the sound of music pumping from three night spots: Grace Garden, La Mission Party Hall and Malibu Discotech.

"We want them to continue their business, but do it in a manner that doesn't affect the neighborhood and allow us to have our peace in our own house," said Morales.

Fed up with the noise, neighbors met with the club owners,County Commissioners Veronica Escobar and Dan Haggerty, El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles and other elected officials.

Morales said he was hoping that legislators would make some sort of ordinance to stop the noise, but their representative, Dan Haggerty, said ordinances are not the way.

"Legislatively as a politician our hands are completely tied" Haggerty said. “I'm opposed to coming down with a lot of heavy-duty laws or restrictions.”

Haggerty said there are certain freedoms in the county that could be disturbed with too many ordinances.

Sheriff Wiles said one of the club owners, Grace Garden, agreed to put sound-proof material in their establishment to reduce noise along with adding a double door feature so that when people open the door, most of the music will stay in.

He said the club also agreed to put in speakers that will help channel the music as well as lowering the bass.
