Horizon City Man Says Mortgage Company Took His Money

A Horizon City man claims a mortage company took advantage of him at the most vulnerable time in his life.

The bank foreclosed on his home and he needed help, but he said a mortgage company just took more of his money and didn't resolve anything.

Ruben Enriquez was promised a resolution to his home foreclosure by CT Mortgage, instead he got more problems. CT Mortgage said they would process his loan modification in order to reinstate his loan to payment he could afford. Months later, nothing had changed.

"They never did anything for us. Me and my wife and my kids. I was still receiving letters from attorneys in Dallas," said Enriquez.

Enriquez paid CT Mortgage close to $1,000. These documents read the work is guaranteed or your money back. But Enriquez said it's a lie. He said he talked to one of the owners of CT Mortgage, Crystal Torres.

"She told us 'I don't have anything to do with this. The guys working for us, they're not here no more. I'm here but you can't get your money back,'" said Enriquez.

Over the phone, Torres told KFOX she had nothing to do with Enriquez's transaction and the two loan officers that did were fired by her.

The company is no longer in business. Torres said she's not liable for everything the two loan officers did during the time they worked at CT Mortgage.

"There's a lot of people out there going through what I'm going through. I don't want people to go with them, these kinds of people," said Enriquez.

KFOX contacted the Texas Savings and Mortgage Lending division and a representative said that both loan officers that worked for CT Mortgage should not be originating loans.

They said that Freddie Padilla's license is inactive and Julio Torres' license is expired.
