Las Crucens have seen the campaign signs for weeks now and each candidate for City Council has been on their toes.

“(I'm) Just tired and ready for it to be over,” said Sharon Thomas who is the incumbent seeking re-election in District 6 against Jim Harbison.

“It's been very, very busy,” said District 3 incumbent Dolores Archuleta who is running against Olga Pedroza.

With over 51,000 eligible voters for this election there were only around 1,000 absentee votes come election day said the city Clerk. Which may have been a good precursor to how the entire turnout would be for Tuesday’s election.

“I don't see very many people here,” said Janney Campbell of Central Las Cruces.

“Not nearly enough because it's such an honor to be able to vote,” said Rosalind Grizzell of Central Las Cruces.

Win or lose at the end of Tuesday, Wednesday will just be another day in the office.

“We think we've made a lot of progress in the last two years and we have lots of other goals we'll continue working toward regardless of what happens,” said Thomas.

“I did not celebrate in 2001 and 2005,” said Archuleta. “I just got back to work the next day because it’s a work day.”
