A freeze warning is in effect for Thursday morning across most of the lowlands of west Texas and southern New Mexico. The warning includes El Paso and Dona Ana counties. The entire Borderland saw major rainfall and plunging temperatures Wednesday. Snow was also seen on Trans Mountain. The National Weather Service said the warning is in effect from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday.According to the KFOX Severe Weather Center, a strong cold front swept across the area Wednesday morning and early afternoon, bringing much cooler air with it.Patchy clouds will keep some temperatures just above freezing Wednesday night, but many areas with clearing skies will cool to below freezing.Low temperatures for Friday morning will be as low or slightly lower and should have a wider impact, affecting the few areas that don`t freeze Thursday morning.A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. It is important to remember to bring in all pets and cover plants during the freeze warning. Exposed piping should be insulated.
